Requesting a book, article or other information resource

Most ILL requests start with an information need that a patron or staff member feels isn’t met by the collection of his or her library.  This could be a book, journal or magazine article, video, or item in some other type of format.

Often library patrons are accessing resources from many places outside the library through the Internet, recommended lists in publications, items mentioned on TV or radio, things seen when reading other books, magazines, newspapers, etc., or resources they learn of while talking to friends or family.  They bring their desire for this information to the library, asking the library to supply this information for them.
