LiLI Database Access Issues

Users of Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall (provided by Symantec) may experience an issue where they are prompted to login again after they have already logged into the LiLI Databases. Because the login prompting happens at the individual database level, the username and password you used originally doesn't work.

This issue occurs because Norton blocks the individual databases' web sites from detecting the web site from which you've come. The database web sites need this information to authenticate you as a user with permission to access their services.

To solve the issue, follow Symantec's instructions for passing referrer information to specific web pages and add the following web sites:

  • auth.go.galegroup.com
  • find.galegroup.com
  • go.galegroup.com
  • infotrac.galegroup.com
  • vs.galegroup.com
  • search.ebscohost.com
  • proquest.umi.com
  • elibrary.bigchalk.com

Users of the Zone Alarm Security Suite may experience these issues as well. If you have tried adding the above sites to your listing of allowed sites and are still having issues, please try the following:

  • In Zone Alarm, select Privacy.
  • Under Cookie Control, click Custom
  • In Custom Privacy Settings, uncheck the box that says Remove private header information.
  • Click OK.
