Loaning of an original item

If the original of an item is needed, a book, video, DVD, CD, etc., the loaning library will check the item out in their circulation system to Interlibrary Loan, usually specifying the library it will be going to.  The item will then be securely packaged and sent either in the mail or through a courier, to the requesting library.  Include a return address label if the item is mailed so the borrowing library has it for the return.  As in the explanation above, sometimes the loaning library has a way to indicate in an online ILL program that the item is on its way to the requesting library.
